PLL Mourns the death of Andy LaTurner

On March 19th, Andy LaTurner, PLL umpire-in-chief and District 2 umpire, passed away after a two+ months long battle with COVID-19 and its complications.

Andy had been a coach for Parchment years ago, then got bitten by the officiating bug in 2008.  He went through umpire training and became a regular umpire at Parchment, quickly becoming a regular site behind the plate. He then became a District 2 umpire, and became our umpire-in-chief several years ago.  He was also an official for the MHSAA since 2008.

His love of umpiring and his reputation for fairness and accuracy lead him to be chosen to umpire at many state and regional Little League games and was proud to be selected to officiate at the 2014 Little League Baseball® Intermediate 50/70 World Series in Livermore, California.

Andy's wife, Marcy, has invited people who wish to make a donation in Andy's memory to send them to Parchment Little League.  Our address is PO Box 612, Parchment MI  49004.

Andy was well loved around Parchment and will be missed by many here.  Little League has a remembrance of him as well:  Andy LaTurner

Rest easy, Andy.  You are Safe! at home.
